Strikeforce gives four brawlers indefinite suspension and pays Ronaldo Souza the highest - UFC news
Ohio Athletic Commission, the regulatory body behind Strikeforce, recently made public the salaries and medical suspensions issued to the fighters of Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey pay-per-view, according to which eight brawlers have been medically suspended
and Ronaldo Souza became the highest paid brawler after receiving $92,000.
The special edition took place at Nationwide Arena situated in Columbus, Ohio, USA and was televised on March 3, 2012. The pay-per-view was headlined by the women’s bantamweight championship bout between Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey.
The extravaganza witnessed many brutal brawls, the reason why four out of a total eight brawlers have been suspended for an unknown period. MIesha Tate, Ronaldo Souza, Roger Bowling, and Conor Heun have been told to make a comeback only if the designated
physicians allow them to do so.
Tate suffered a devastating elbow injury because of Rousey’s decisive and bout-winning armbar submission manoeuvre that almost brought Miesha’s arm at the brink of getting broken. Ronaldo Souza entered the hexagon to take on Bristol Marunde. The three-round
middleweight bout ended when Souza grabbed Bristol in his arm-triangle choke and made him submit.
Souza brutally battered and pummelled Bristol so much so that his gloves almost ruptured due to consecutive well connected strikes. Ronaldo is expected to have a hand injury and captured a pay slip of $92,000 which included the $22,000 win bonus. Roger Bowling
engaged Brandon Saling in a three-round preliminary card bout held in the welterweight division.
Bowling is also suspected to receive a severe hand injury which might take time to recuperate as he collected a total knockout win by mere punches over Brandon. The last man to receive the indefinite suspension order was Conor Heun who encountered Ryan Couture
in the lightweight bout on the preliminary card.
Conor is also expected to receive a severe hand injury as his win also came via total knockout by punches. Out of total eight suspensions, three men were taken off the active list for 30 days. Pat Healy, Alexis Davis, and Brandon Saling were handed over
a 30-day suspension order because of head related injuries, facial wounds, and precautionary reasons respectively.
Kazuo Misaki who fought Paul Daley and took split decision win, was ordered to stay out of the ring for at least 45 days since he received major facial injuries. The salary detail of the main card brawlers is as follows:
Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate collected an amount of $32,000 and $19,000 respectively with Ronda’s amount including $17,000 win bonus. Josh Thomson and K. J. Noons who collided in the lightweight bout grasped $80,000 and $38,000 respectively. No win bonus
was disbursed to Josh.
Kazuo Misaki collected $50,000 exclusive of win bonus and his opponent Paul Daley debited his account with $45,000. Bristol Marunde, Ronaldo’s opponent received just $10,000 and Lumumba Sayers grabbed a cheque of $10,000 with $5,000 as the win bonus) after
defeating Scott Smith in the middleweight bout. Smith collected $65,000 despite of losing the bout via guillotine choke.
