Strikeforce heavyweight fighter Shane Del Rosario sets for the UFC debut – UFC News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is always in the hunt to expand its list of fighters. Keeping this in mind, they have recently acquired Shane Del Rosario, who has been a mixed martial art (MMA) fighter in Strikeforce.
The reports were confirmed by UFC on December 29, 2011 and later they were further confirmed by his manager, Jason House.
Del Rosario, the 28-year-old American MMA fighter and Thai boxer has been a powerful force in the Strikeforce circuit. With an unbeaten run in Strikeforce’s heavyweight division, he has won all eleven of his fights. Starting
his MMA career from August 2006, he kept a dominating stance in Strikeforce. Out of the eleven of his fights, he won ten of them in the first round. Although he hasn’t won any heavyweight title, his experience and winning run is bound to give him a possible
heavyweight title match in the UFC.
According to the reports coming in from UFC and Del Rosario’s management team, the MMA fighter is set to make his UFC debut in 2012. This news came as a surprise for all as Del Rosario’s Strikeforce statistics speak for themselves.
Although UFC fans will have to wait as the promotion has yet to announce his opponent and the venue of his debut bout.
Del Rosario, nicknamed No Limits, stands at 6ft 4in and weighs in at 248 lbs (pounds). His Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai fighting style have further polished his skills. Prior of becoming an MMA fighter, he was a successful
Thai Boxer where he fought in 9 matches and won 8 of them. His boxing career also aided him in his MMA career for he already had a great in-ring sense and the attitude to become a good fighter.
In 2011, Del Rosario fought once at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva event in February 2011, when he defeated compatriot MMA fighter Lavar Johnson. If he is scheduled to get a fight in 2012, it will be after nearly one year he
will step inside the ring. Many critics view he might have some problem adjusting himself on his debut for two reasons. First, he is out of action for a year and secondly, he will have to adjust in the UFC for the fans of this MMA promotion are more demanding
and energetic than the ones of Strikeforce.
