is one of the best league competitions in the world.
The forward joined from Norwegian side Lillestrom for an undisclosed fee and signed a four-year contract. Mainz were in search of a forward after star striker from last season Andre Schurrle left for Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
The club faced tough competition from FC Copenhagen and Brondby IF but emerged the winners in the end to land the talented striker.
Ujah is overjoyed with the transfer and stated that it is the next big challenge in his career. He claimed that it is a huge opportunity for him to perform at the highest stage and he wants to avail it. The Nigerian thanked Mainz
and his former club Lillestrom for the immense support and hoped that he could perform to his full potential.
The 20-year old revealed that many clubs from Europe were interested in him but Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel ensured him of a bright future and regular first-team experience.
“I'm happy for this major step in my career. I thank both Lillestrom and Mainz for making a dream come true for me. I read about several interested clubs but the Mainz coach [Thomas Tuchel] gave a positive impression from the very
moment I first spoke to him,” he was quoted as saying.
