Striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 snub: Serie A news
French striker, David Trezeguet, has admitted that a move to Italian side, Napoli, is highly unlikely after negotiations with the club have not gone as planned.
The former Juventus striker was linked with a move to Stadio Sao Paolo for the past few weeks and their President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, even confirmed his interest in the Frenchman. However, manager, Walter Mazzarri, was not
interested in signing the former A.S Monaco star, as he is looking for a younger option.
The agent of the striker has confirmed that his client has also attracted interest from a host of other teams including Premier League newcomers, Swansea City and Italian outfit, Chievo Verona, and he will now try to settle a deal
with those teams.
The agent further added that he even gave Napoli the option that his client will be content for a bench role but the Azzurri showed no interest in him.
Talking to the reporters the agent said, "As far as I can tell, the deal between Trezeguet and Napoli is closed. A marriage can only take place if two parties are enthusiastic.  On our part, we have said everything, even discussing
Trezeguet playing a role from the bench. However, we did not receive interest from Napoli, so that the deal could be over."
The 33-year-old is currently on a free transfer after his contract with the La Liga relegated, Hercules, expired at the end of last season. Trezeguet had a wonderful time playing in the Spanish league and finished the season with
12 goals from 30 appearances.
The former French international was even linked with a return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 with his boyhood club, Monaco, but they decided against a deal after having too many attackers at their disposal.
Swansea City are reportedly favourites to sign the striker and are expected to offer him a lucrative contract to play in the Premier League.
Trezeguet is widely considered as one of the best forwards of the game and his impressive performances for Juventus made him the best Serie A footballer of the year 2002.
