Striker Nicklas Bendtner threatens to quit Arsenal?
Nicklas Bendtner has warned Arsene Wenger that he is fed up with sitting on the bench and is ready to quit unless he is given more first-team experience.
The 22-year-old Danish striker is frustrated that he cannot find a place in the starting eleven even after completely recovering from his long-term injury.
Bendtner suffered a groin injury 14 months ago in a car accident but has now regained full fitness. Arsene Wenger has been playing the Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh in his place which has been frustrating for the Danish International.
This season, the opportunities have been far and few for Bendtner. He started in just two games this season and in an interview said that if the situation stays the same and he remains on the bench then he will have no other option
but to move on and look for another club in January.
The player insists that he loves the club and has no desire to leave but his patience is quickly running out. He wants to play regularly and hoped it would be for the Gunners.
Bendtner said: “I’m very disappointed that I haven’t played more. I feel I’ve done the right things in the rehab and that I’m in the form of my life. I feel that I’m better than before the injury where I after all was in the line
up every time and close to fulfilling my potential.”
The young striker reckons that if he is 100% fit then there is no reason why he should be warming the benches; instead, he should be on the football pitch.
He further says that he is going to be 23 very soon and at this point of his career, it is extremely important to play regularly in order to develop his own game and look to the future as well. The only thing he can do now is prove
to everyone that he is fully fit in the match and during training sessions, and he has been doing that for some time.
However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hit back at the Danish striker and insisted that the 22-year-old is staying at the Emirates Stadium and there is absolutely no chance of him leaving.
Wenger said: “When you try to convince a player that he has to be patient, then you waste your time. That’s what you’ve got to do, but you ask a player if he is fit after two training sessions and he says: ‘yes.’ That’s it, that’s
normal. I was the same.”
The Frenchman further said that the player has a lot of confidence in him which is not a bad thing. He sees the player in the training everyday and feels that he is now getting sharper and would consider playing him very soon.
Wenger believes that football is a team game and one cannot look at the individuals
It is rumoured that Bayern Munich is ready to test Arsene Wenger’s resolve and bid £15 million for the Danish striker in the January transfer window.
