Striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RC-Lens-c40322 – Ligue 1 news
RC Lens striker, Toifilou Maoulida, has been released by his club following their relegation to Ligue 2 after a disappointing 2010/11 campaign. The striker believed that it would not have been possible for the club to pay his salary while playing in the
Ligue 2 and therefore decided to part ways with the club.
The 31-year-old is now a free agent and insisted that he would think about his future in a few weeks time as he requires a break from football. He mentioned that there are already a host of offers from a variety of clubs around the world and would prefer
going to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, playing for any other club.
He also added that there are clubs from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 and a couple of Middle Eastern outfits who are interested in acquiring his services. The striker clearly stated that he has is yet to decide in favour of any club and will also consider moving
to these places in spite of lesser interest. Maoulida told that chances of appearing in the starting XI of the team would be a decisive factor in deciding his next destination.
The former AS Monaco player enthused, "I signed a memorandum of understanding earlier in the season. I am free to sign where I want, since there is no severance pay. I am able to leave with my head held high, for four years I gave everything. I made sacrifices
for the club. I am fortunate to be free, which is an advantage. I have my experience going for me and I can score goals. The challenge is to bounce back after this season."
The Frenchman joined Les Sang et Or in January 2008 and has managed 74 League appearances for the club since then, netting 28 goals in that period. The 31-year-old has not been able to impress the French national team officials and is yet to make his International
debut for France.
Maoulida will decide in a week’s time whether he would stay in France or make a move to the English Premier League.
