Set to miss Ghana international Andre Ayew for at least two months, Olympique de Marseille have called back on-loan striker Brandao back to the club just like Arsenal have done by calling back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thierry-Henry-c34918
Ligue 1 giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Ayew-c19098 is set to leave the club in the coming days in order to represent Ghana in the African Cup of Nations.
The departure of the youngster would leave Loic Remy as the only available striker (Andre-Pierre Gignac is injured and might be loaned to another club this January).
Furthermore, the club’s financial situation means that coach Didier Deschamps might not be able to see a new striker arriving at the Rhone club. last season, Marseille loaned out striker Brandao to Brazilian sides http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cruzeiro-c38870 and Gremio respectively. The former
Shakhtar Donetsk striker scored 16 goals in 65 league games for Les Phoceens and never realised his full potential.
However, financial circumstances have forced Marseille to recall the striker back to the club for at least until the return of Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew.
Yesterday afternoon, a statement on Gremio’s website read, “Gremio have confirmed that the player Brandao will return to Olympique de Marseille, the club with which he is bound until 2013, at the request of coach Didier Deschamps.”
The Brazilian striker has been asked to return to the club at Deschamps request as the French tactician looks to prepare his side for the second half of the Ligue 1 campaign.
However, L’Equipe claims that the striker might not finish the season in Marseille colours either.
In the image of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s loan deal for Thierry Henry, the striker is required only until the return of the Ayew brothers which means that Brandao could be looking for a new club in between the second half of the campaign.
Though the news could have been surprising for Brandao, the striker was happy to return to his parent club.
“The adventure was beautiful in Porto Alegre and I thank everyone at the club. But I’m going back to Marseille. I am very happy to return,” said Brandao while talking to the media.
