Striling in Spain?

Does anyone know whether you can still spend stirling in Spain or do I have to change it into Euros.

No,you need Euro- you can use Maestro card Free Of Charges- any other card you pay as per How much you withdraw. 1.21 euro to the 1 pound- euro at an all time low in Spain.

Here in the Canaries there are one or 2 shops that say you can pay in sterling but it is usually for alcohol and tobacco.  In the tourist areas you might find one or 2 but it is not general

You can still use pounds in the Spanish region of Gibraltar that has been illegally occupied for many years. Big hotels in other parts of Spain may accept pounds, but the exchange rate you will get will be poor.
