String friendship bracelet keeps curling?

I made a friendship bracelet (a little third grade I know) with thin string. The thing is it keeps curling itself into a little spring. How do I get it to lie straight without curling up?

you are braiding too tightly, so it is curling. also the narrower or thinner the weavers, the more it will curl if tightly braided.

Try to relax your tensions a bit and it should quit curling.

When I did them when I was younger it always twisted and just recently realized it was b/c I was only knotting each knot once instead of twice.  Now that I knot twice they're perfect.
