Question:

Stroller anxiety!?

My husband and i have gone out stroller shopping a few times and seem to be overwhelmed by the number of different 'travel systems' different stores have!

We definitely want one with the car seat and stroller, but aren't sure which brands/design is best?

Any advice on things to look for in a stroller/car seat?

We really like this Eddie Bauer one, but want some real advice on whats great!

So, Moms what are things you like about your stroller and things you don't? Advice for a new mom?

Oh, and when should we get one? We are 22 weeks due Nov 30!

  1. test them out in the store.  I would look for one that will fold up the easiest & has the most storage room underneath it (for diaper bags, purse, etc.) As far as when to get it, register for it and maybe you will get it for your baby shower.  You will need the car seat before leaving the hospital.

  2. When my 3 year old was born we bought graco and loved it so much when we had our twins we bought the graco doble stroller that the carseats connect too.

  3. I looked at all the travel systems and also could not decide.  I was leaning towards a Graco, but the stroller was really heavy for me. ( I am only 5 feet tall)

We ended up going with Peg Perego, but they do not offer a travel system.  We chose them because the stroller was easy for me to lift and maneuver.

    Things to look for:

Check how much room you have for storage underneath.

Cup holders for mom is always nice.

Try putting the infant carrier in and out of the stroller.  You'll find that some brands are easier than others.

See how easy or hard the stroller is to fold up

Is the seat easy to recline when the baby is sleeping?

I would register for the stroller.  You don't need to get it too early, a few weeks before you are due should be fine.  Try to install it in the car a couple weeks before your due date, just in case you are a bit early.

I also have an umbrella stroller, which is inexpensive, light and great for quick trips when the baby is older, of course.

    Congrats and Good Luck!

  4. I used to work in a day care and the parents, my former boss, and my mother swear by Graco because it's sturdy, easy to assemble, and rarely recalled.  Buy it as soon as et can afford it.

  5. Things I looked for: durability (I think Maclaren suits that as it is serviceable!), size, weight ,how compactly it folds (where will it be stored when not in use) how often will you use it & for what purpose (from the car to the store or daily power walks?) Are there any pinching points where you or baby will get hurt (upon folding or opening of unit and opening & cosing of trays) How easy can it fold & be picked up (with child in hand, or will you use a carrier; a much better bet for both mom & baby than a stroller), where will you store it when not in use? How much do you have to spend, or can you get it as a gift (perhaps split between 2 or more for the higher end strollers)? Some of the things you need to consider...

Like I said before, check out the oldest method in the world, carrying your baby, with the right carrier you'll be giving yourself & your baby one of the best bonding & learning tools in the world, (and your baby will cry less...much less)! Plus depending on which one you choose you can pop it in the diaper bag ; )

  6. I'd get one when you're able to. That way you can have the car seat installed in the car just in case you go into labor early. We didn't do this because we didn't expect me getting induced at 39 weeks so my husband had to run back home and get the car seat and bags.

We have a Baby Trend travel system(http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp... It's been a good travel system thus far aside from a wobbly wheel but that's our own fault. The handle on the car seat is a little hard for myself to put down/up but my husband has no problems. It's not the most expensive one out there so you do get what you pay for in that department but the car seat is rated well on safety.

  7. LOL, get one you like the best and you feel is the best for your baby.

  8. we first got a convertible car seat and a sling but when my son was a month old my mom found a deal on a travel system and bought it we than started using the infant seat much easier cause my son was on the small side and the other seat was to big for him. i love that mine has a huge bottom area for putting things like the diaper bag a so forth

this is the one i have

the stroller is so easy to open and close it is just a bit bulky and hubby does not really like it but i do and thats what counts
