At the Big Kahuna after party dyno contest a GSX/R 1000 ran 189.80 bhp and a Busa ran 189.93 bhp. Does that mean the 1000 was above average or the Busa was below?

  1. hmmmm...a little bit of both i think!

  2. It means nothing...They both are very powerful engines, made by the same company.

  3. The gsxr was above average

  4. Hi, the bhp figure means jack. No point having 200bhp if the peak torque curve is rubbish.

The busa would have peaked at about 12,500 rpm while the GSXR would have been near the redline. Meaning out of dyno setup the power usability of the busa would be higher. Although heavier

look at a v twin like ducati 916/996/998 etc bhp barely 100 but torque curve of all torque curves.

Also have no idea without doing the dyno ourselves what tolerances where applied to each run. Can make a huge difference

    I

  5. The GSXR was def. modified as h**l, stock (depending on year) average like 162 hp

  6. Thats alot of horsepower that will never be used............EVER.. Some one will die trying to use it

  7. Doggiedexter has it right, the most significant difference between the two, apart from engine, is the amount of R&D in making the Hayabusa’s fairing so aerodynamic. Even so, the Hayabusa was low – but the difference can be down to manufacturer’s tolerances or even the running in of the engine.
