Strong Suit to try his luck against Frankel in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes
The Richard Hannon trained Strong Suit has yet to make a comeback this season, but his workouts and practice sessions have left a positive impact on his connections.
The chestnut colt’s plan of action includes competing in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes, which will be hosted at the Royal Ascot on 19th June, 2012, where he will compete against the Sir Henry Cecil trained Frankel, who remains
undefeated in ten starts.
David Redvers, representative of owner, Qatar Racing Limited, stated to the press:
"Strong Suit worked extremely well. Both Richard Hughes and Richard Hannon were thrilled to bits and believe it is as good a piece of work as he's ever done. The Queen Anne is still the plan, but it's an interesting one.”
Strong Suit, son of Rahy, out of mare Helwa, does not lack talent as he has demonstrated his superior racing ability with five victories out of ten starts.
The four-year-old colt raced as a favourite in the Group 2 Burj Khalifa Challenge Stakes, where he was coupled with Richard Hughes, and together the duo made steady headway on the track, landing a 4 ½ lengths' victory over Chachamaidee, in October
2011.
The young runner’s season did not end well as he finished tenth out of thirteen runners in the Grade 1 TVG Breeders' Cup Mile at Churchill Downs on 5th
November, 2011.
He is all set to make a great comeback in this race.
Redvers stated:
"We have to weigh up whether getting a thumping at Royal Ascot would be the right thing to do for Strong Suit's prospective stallion career. We believe we've got the second-best miler in Europe, but we've got to prove that."
Side Glance, trained by Andrew Balding for owners, Pearl Bloodstock Ltd, will aim to take the victory on the 1 mile course.
The son of Passing Glance, out of mare Averami, recently demonstrated his potential when he raced under a capable rider, Jimmy Fortune, in the Group 3 Investec Diomed Stakes at Epsom on 1st June, 2012, finishing ¾ of a length
ahead of Dance And Dance.
