Strong lineup confirmed for Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012
The LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars, who put their skills to the test at the LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012 last week, are now preparing to participate in the upcoming Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012, set to be staged from October 25-28, at Yang Mei, Taoyuan, Taiwan.
The 72-hole event, which is going to stage its second edition this year, will be featuring a strong lineup containing almost all the current big names in women’s golf.
Current world number one Yani Tseng, who hails from Taiwan, will be the main attraction in the tournament as she will defend her title.
Moreover, other key contenders confirmed to take part in the LPGA event include Lindsey Wright, Stacy Lewis, Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson, Na Yeon Choi, Jodi Ewart, Suzann Pettersen, Jessica Korda, Michelle Wie, Mindy Kim, Nicole Castrale, So Yeon Ryu, Se Ri Pak, Ai Miyazato, Inbee Park, Haeji Kang, Anna Nordqvist, Vicky Hurst, Karin Sjodin and Hee Young Park.
Although the field is not only featuring plenty of Asian contenders, a heavy presence of European and American players will keep the event all hyped up and it is expected that the match will be tougher than its 2011 edition.
With the LPGA Hana Bank Championship behind them, Asian LPGA stars think they can atone for the lapses they made last week at Incheon, South Korea—and they plan to fully capitalise on the home crowd and favourable weather conditions.
On top of the list of hot favourites is Yani Tseng, who will not only capitalise on the home crowd advantage, but will also have an edge over rivals due to vast experience of course and weather conditions.
Tseng spoke to the media during her pre-tournament interview on Tuesday, saying she is fully fit to defend her title and she will try not to repeat the same mistakes that hampered her from defending her title in South Korea last week.
In addition to Tseng, other Asian players such as Na Yeon Choi, Inbee Park and Ai Miyazato can also give a tough time to their American counterparts.
Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, who won the LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012 in grand style, is ready to impress her fans once again, but  it remains to be seen how she fares against the defending champion.
