Strong roster, $2 million purse to make CN Canadian Women's Open more attractive
The CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 is scheduled to be staged from August 20-26, at The Vancouver Golf Club, Canada, with a formidable field featuring key LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) players, and a whopping $2 million purse.
The officials said that this year’s CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 is expected to stage a more difficult battle than it did last season. The officials went on to say that the tournament management is also offering a huge purse that is sure to keep the contenders motivated.
Analysts said that the purse is definitely making the event livelier and more attractive. Officials expressed their hope that LPGA event is going to lure an overwhelming number of fans, which will also prompt players to display an electrifying performance.
In addition to a flurry of features and big money, the field of the tournament is something that has triggered fans’ interest, and it is expected that the final outcome will, once again, be at odds with the predictions.
Defending champion, Brittany Lincicome from America, who is already in the roster, will be exhibiting her skills at The Vancouver Golf Club this year. However, plenty of other prominent LPGA players have also shown their commitment for their participation.
According to the officials, key LET players who have committed to take part in the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 include Lexi Thompson, Natalie Gulbis, Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer, Na Yeon Choi, Cristie Kerr, Suzann Pettersen, Katherine Hull, Lydia Ko, Lorie Kane and Alena Sharp.
The field, which already contains most of the key LPGA contenders and past winners, will be completed by August 14.
Analysts said that the Canadian Open roster is amazing and will spice up the event. However, they said that the past winners may outperform their rivals, as they know the course well.
On top of the list is current world number one Yani Tseng. Analysts said that the Taiwanese star is being regarded as the hot favourite contender for the coveted title.
They said that Tseng is definitely going to receive plenty of support and appreciation from the Canadian crowd, a she has a huge fan following there.
