Question:

Strong wifi signal ,connected but only "limited or not connected" message. What could be fix?

Have tried re-booting, enabling and dis-abling adapter, status of driver OK Another laptop connects without a problem. Suggestions please

  1. Delete the network adaptor from the device manager, restart windows and let it get reinstalled. Then try again. That will sort out any configuration problems.


  2. This means that it sees the network and "associated" with it but it was not able to contact a DHCP server to get an IP address.

    While this could mean you have a problem with the gadget that is assigning your network addresses (usually happens on a router or internet gateway device) that would also affect any cabled devices.  More likely it just is not able to communicate.

    In my experience this is most often caused by an incorrectly entered encryption key or the wrong encryption type chosen.  Most devices will actually associate with the wrong key but then can't talk.  Enter the key again and/or delete and recreate the wireless profile.  If it still doesn't work, then check your router.
