Question:

Stronger amp for my 15" L7?

I have a kicker 15" l7 in a 4 cu. ft sealed box and its powered by a rockford fosgate 1000-bd1 wired at 1 ohm. It bangs pretty nicely but is there a better amp that would push it even louder? BTW, my sub is the 2 ohm version. Any suggestions?

  1. no if you want your sub to push harder a 4 cu ft box ported would be the best way to improve it and make it louder btw i dont think the amp is one ohm stable so be carefull its 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms witch is plenty for your woofer

  2. You should try a Hifonics amp...not a great name but it will push the c**p out of this sub...

  3. Just get an amp with higher rms like a 1200 or 1500 or anything between 1000-1500W rms should do better i dont think you have to worry bout blowing up for L7, the 1000Rms is pretty moderate. according to this websire you can put them in a ported 3cu.ft. box, that should make it louder. i love your choice of kicker L7s by the way

  4. Going up a few hundred watts is really not going to yield much of a noticeable result.  And to go from a Rockford to a HiFonics is a downgrade in my eyes.  Honestly, the best thing to do is to rebuild the box, it costs much less to do and will yield much more change in performance.
