Strontium has 4 isotopes with the following masses: 83.9134 amu (.56%), 85.9094 (9.86%), 86.9089 (7%) and 87.9056 (82.58%). Calculate the atomic mass of strotium.

Does anyone know how to calculate atomic mass?

  1. My periodic table says it's 87.62 amu.

    83.9134*(0.56/100)+85.9094*(9.86/100)+ 86.9089*(7/100)+87.9056*(82.58/100)

    =87.62 amu

    Looks like my periodic table is exactly correct!


  2. You have to work out the average in relation to the proportion of isotopes,

    to save you time, it's 87.62
