  1. Sr2+ ... not connected with its electronegativity.

    Yes, related to its I.E.  - the third ionisation energy would be too high to allow the loss of more electrons.

It does not relate to either the electronegativity or the first ionization energy directly, but, if you consider both its low electronegativity _and_ the fact that it is in Group 2 (IIA) (and has two valence electrons), you reach the conclusion that it will most likely form the +2 oxidation state.
