Question:

Structural Engineering?

I am currently taking Electronics, Design and Tech, Physics and mathematics at college and am wondering what is the best university to study Civil/Structural engineering in the U.K or U.S.A. And if i studied Structural Engineering in the U.K after i graduated would i be able to get a job as a Structural Engineer in the U.S.A . :)

  1. If you want to design buildings as a Structural Engineer I highly recommend the Architectural Engineering program at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA USA or The University of Leeds in the U.K. -- These two universities have an exchange program with each other where you can come to the US to study or vice-versa.  

    The best advice if you want to work as a structural engineer in the USA is to apply for summer internships while you are still in school.  It is easy to get hired once you have some basic experience.


  2. I know this isnt answering your question about UK or USA but i'm from australia and almost finished my civil engineering degree. Civil you will find work anywhere but there would be more work in the USA its just geographically bigger and more demand. In australia we have a huge shortage you will be offeref weekend/vacation work in you second year!
