The former Real Madrid midfielder has failed to cement a first team place at the Mestalla since his 6 million Euros move from Getafe in the summer of 2011.
Bemoaning lack of opportunities at the Mestalla, Spanish midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dani-Parejo-c9878, is determined to prove his worth in the absence of Ever Banega. The erratic Argentine was sidelined for up to six months after fracturing his left ankle in a bizarre accident.
Banega underwent surgery earlier in the week and teammate Parejo had words of sympathy for him. However, he added that he will look to profit from the injury that has beset the Argentinean midfielder.
Los Blancos academy graduate stated that since his transfer from Getafe, chances have been hard to come by, but he hopes his fate will change with one of his first team rivals out with injury.
"Up until now I have not had many opportunities," the 22-year-old told UEFA’s official website.
"While it's awful what happened to Ever, it's obvious I might have more chances now and I'm going to try and take them. In fact, I'll give everything I've got."
In the light of Banega’s injury, Valencia were trounced 5-1 at the Camp Nou. However, they were successful in securing progress to Europa League Round of 16, after securing a win over Stoke City in two legs.
Parejo reflected that the result in European second tier club competition will boost morale of the players, which was necessary after the Barcelona match.
"We're content with how we played because getting the win and qualifying wasn't easy. This comes after an awful weekend [when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078] and with our morale on the floor, so this win is very welcome indeed."
In the current campaign, Los Che continue to show why they are hailed as the best of the rest in La Liga. The Mestalla-based club are third in Primera Division rankings, a mammoth 21 points behind leaders Real Madrid and command a 7-point lead over 4th-placed
Athletic Bilbao.
The Valencian club has performed well in cup competitions, making it to the Copa del Rey semi-finals before being knocked out by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604. On the European front, after a less than impressive campaign in UEFA Champions League, Los Che have found their footing
in the Europa League as well.
