Struggling Michelle Wie to battle tough contenders at CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012
American Michelle Wie, who finished outside the top 50 in the Evian Masters 2012, is gearing up to participate in the coming CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, slated to be played from August 20-26, at The Vancouver
Golf Club, Canada.
Wie has been one of the most prominent LPGA (Ladies professional Golf Association) stars, but she has not been able to prove her mettle for several months. Now, with another much-hyped event coming up, the
American star can make the most of this opportunity and end her winning drought.
Wie has been winless since she won her last victory at the CN Canadian Women’s Open in August 2010, and this year’s edition of the tournament will bring her plenty of opportunities to prove her worth.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 is going to feature a formidable field packed with several competent players. Therefore, the professional golfer is supposed to take her game a little more seriously now —
if she really wants to cast off her image as an under performer.
According to the officials of the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, the field is going to include Katherine Hull, Na Yeon Choi, Lydia Ko, Lexi Thompson, Natalie Gulbis, Cristie Kerr, Suzann Pettersen, Stacy Lewis,
Paula Creamer and the current world number one Yani Tseng.
Although determined not to let her nerve overcome her on the course this time, Wie will not find it easy to outrival players like Stacy Lewis, Yani Tseng and Suzann Pettersen.
The biggest threat the American star is likely to face is Tseng, who is too eager to record a victory after facing the worst slump in recent tournaments. Tseng is going to come up with a solid plan, and winning
a title at the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 will be an uphill task for Wie.
The 22-year-old golfer has been known for her solid putting skills, but in the last few tournaments, she has not been able to capitalise on this feature.
Analysts said that the struggling LPGA star has been training hard on the practice range for the last few months, and she has fixed most of her errors. However, they said that it remains to be seen how Wie
implements what she has learned in her training sessions so far.
In recent tournaments, Wie has displayed an average performance. For instance, the Evian Masters 2012 saw her display a below-average performance. On the other hand, she performed much better in the US Women’s
Open 2012, finishing tied for the 35th position on the leaderboard.
“It was tough out there, for sure.  It was playing tough, and I left a couple of putts and left a couple of shots out there. Granted, it was playing really tough out there, but a little
disappointed with my play today, but the thing is it's still the U. S. Open,” Wie had said at the end of the third round at US Women’s Open 2012.
“It was great.  The crowds were awesome today.  It was a lot of fun playing with Suzann in the final group.  It was a lot of fun being in contention”.
Wie, who has been in the public eye even before she started playing golf, is still trying to make a name for herself as a successful golfer. Rising to fame on the back of her looks and fashion, Wie was expected
to become a top-ranked player when she joined professional golf in 2005.
