Struggling Tseng eager to go back to Malaysia
Current world number one Yani Tseng has said that she is eager to “go back to Malaysia” to take part in the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 and atone for her last year’s defeat.
Tseng is being regarded as one of the strongest contenders for the upcoming battle at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club as she displayed a stellar performance in the last edition of the tournament.
The Taiwanese star came close to winning, but lost the match to South Korean Na Yeon Choi who fired an overall 269 to clinch a one-shot victory.
Speaking to the media on the eve of the 2012 edition of Sime Darby LPGA, Tseng said she is confident that she can work her magic this time, but was keen to point out that the competition will
be harder than before, due to the participation of key LPGA contenders.
“I cannot wait to go back to Malaysia for this year’s tournament. Having all four Major winners involved makes it even more special and after coming close last year, I definitely want to do
better this time around," she said.
Tseng may be fired up and determined to settle the score this time, she is not going to find it easy to inflict a defeat on her rivals as she is facing a performance slump these days.
However, her aspiration to do well at Kuala Lumpur is stunning as she the star golfer has repeatedly shown in the past that she can bounce back any time.
Observes said that Tseng’s vow to win the upcoming battle has not come as a big surprise because she has performed below average in most of the recent LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association)
tournaments.
The top-ranked prodigy got off to a fiery start this season, having won three tournaments early in the year, but her game appears to have lost the vitality it has always boasted.
A nervy Tseng found it difficult to make calculated putts on the greens and her drives strayed off the course most of the time.
Losing a string of events is not the only thing that has rattled the LPGA giant, but a solid performance from her archrival Stay Lewis is also proving a big challenge for her.
