Struggling batting surges to elevate New York Yankees into domination – MLB Playoffs
The New York Yankees, being the most criticised club of Major League Baseball for the inconsistent performance of their batting camp, has retaliated with their best exhibition, touching ten destroying runs against Detroit Tigers in the fourth and most crucial
outing of the playoffs at Comerica Park in Michigan on Tuesday, October 3.
Yankees’ struggling batting camp in the third and fourth outing was facing opposing remarks from all around the country on their below average performance against their old rivals.
New York Yankees’ captain Derek Jeter, who was known for his post-season brilliance, struggled to gain his impetus back, but failed in the first three outings of the American League Division Series. In the fourth, however, he managed to scratch his momentum
out and went 1-for-4. The 12-time All-Star batter made his only hit to shatter the scoreless tie in the top of third inning. He earned two RBIs to build the foundation for his batting squad.
Alex Rodriguez, who struggled throughout the season to perform even to his average ability, made two hits, scored a run and earned a RBIs single. There was constant speculation of the possibility of sending Rodriguez to rest as concerns of having him out
of form was surrounding Girardi before the outing. However, the master slugger proved his class, striking back in a much needed situation.
Watching the veterans perform, the Yankees’ younger players also came into action with their vital hits and runs. Jesus Montero, who was given a chance to start his MLB career in the month of September, acted as per the expectations of the management. The
young right-handed player got two hits to earn an RBI and a run in the eighth inning. His current form has increased the Yankees batting depth for the latter half of the rotation.
Russell Martin and Brett Gardner each repeated their normal concerts, touching two hits over their four at-bats. Martin and Gardner both helped the Yankees to improve their lead to 10-1 in the top of the eighth inning.
Mark Teixeira, Curtis Dickerson and Jorge Posada also added runs. Posada and Dickerson were lucky to score a run without touching even a single hit. Dickerson faced only a single pitch and earned a run.
Yankees’ batting line-up has given a real blow to the Tigers pitching depth. Their sudden retaliation and quick return to form has now become a constant source of trouble for Detroit.
