Struggling with exercise and a lower cal diet?

I would like to shift a very stubborn half a stone.

I exercise 3 to 4 times a week for an hour, but the weight has not dropped, so I've decided to restrict my calorie intake for a few weeks to see if that gets it moving.

However, when I now do the exercise, I usually feel very light headed and my legs go all wobbly/shakey. I am struggling to get through an exercise session and immediately feel like I have to eat.

Will my body get used to the fewer calories and stop going all shakey when I exercise? I am not starving myself, am still probably eating 1600 cals per day.

  1. Try eating a small snack with carbs and protein just prior to exercising.


  2. You need to be very careful about restricting your calorie intake with frequent, intense workouts. The reason you are feeling light headed is because you do not have enough energy for your workout. You get energy from calories but if they are not available your body starts burning glucose and knocking your blood sugar out of whack. You could even have a blood sugar reaction which is very scary and unpleasant.

    Contrary to popular belief, restricting calories and intense workouts are not the healthy and effective way to lose weight and keep it off. A couple of articles that will help guide you are "How to exercise for maximum fat burning" and "Best Way to Lose Weight."

  3. I love awomen who's into health, There are a few things you can do. I no doctor, double check my advice, but My health is great and I love to excersize all the time. Try getting up in the mourning and eating melon, water melon, hash browns, eggs and milk or water. Drink plenty of water or gaterrade, electrolytes you loose them while you sweat of diet, water does not have them. When you hungry after working out eat, something you'll find that long as you keep up the excersize, you actully will tone and loose more wieght, Just use common sense, less calories sometimes can make you gain wieght cause you body holds on to its fat.(make sense) So when your hungry eat either a snack like health bar, fish, small piece of steak , or salads you can always put steak sredded up on a salad. My trick is i take normal (fatty food) Then I toss it on salad botta bing you got something that hit your taste buds and the healthy spot. Good luck, eat when you hungry just excersize, don't forget to drink plenty of power/gaterrade

  4. The trick is not to lower your calories but to eat them in 6 small meals rather than 3 big meals. Then your metabolism will speed up.

  5. I know how you feel. When I first started exercising, I was going to the gym for a month and nothing had happened. In fact, I put on 1 or 2llbs which really made me frustrated because I felt as if I wasn't getting anywhere.

    When the summer holidays started I decided I was going to get stricter on what I was eating and go to the gym as often as possible. At FIRST I too got light headed and a bit shakey but then it kind of calmed down. Just make sure you're drinking LOTS of water whilst you exercise, and after you've exercised. I read somewhere that when you feel thirsty, you're already dehydrating. Even though you're eating the right amount of cals you've got to make sure it's good stuff. You can't eat a big sloppy cake and just eat nothing for the rest of the day, it's got to be lots of fruit and veg etc. I won't bother going on because you know what you've got to do!

    In 2months I've managed to lose 1 stone and a little bit ;) That was from running for an hour most days, trying to get as much walking into the day, and just generally getting my **** off the chair to do stuff.
