Stuart Bingham in strong position after beating Lin Shuai in Asian PTC Event 1
Snooker supervising organisation around the globe, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) announced the addition of three Asian events in the Players Tour Championship (PTC) series of the 2012-13 Snooker Season. The first event
of the Guotai Liqueur Asian Players Tour Championship is underway at the Zhangjiagang arena in China.
The initial stages of the Asian PTC Event 1 have finished producing eight potters who made their way into the quarter-final stage of the tournament. So far, all top dogs of snooker have qualified for the last eight round where they will meet some new and
old faces.
The tournament has featured many new Chinese potters who have played against big names of the game to improve their skills. Some of them have shown great performance and have hit the quarter-final stage where they will have real tough competition.
Winner of the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open snooker event, Stuart Bingham has also surged into the quarters after beating China’s Lin Shuai by the score line of 4-0. The Englishman played outstandingly in the game and swept the table in little time and
not giving any chances to the Chinese potter to counter his attacking style.
The Basildon potter recently claimed the title of Pink Ribbon Pro-am Snooker Tournament at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester which gave him a lot of confidence. He showed no signs of pressure during the game and proved his class. The Chinese potter
was indeed an easy opponent for him but still winning the game is equally important to test the snooker skills.
The whitewash win over Shuai in the Asian PTC will definitely help him bring back his true form because that is what he needs right now as he will soon be defending his Australian title at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria, Australia.
Meanwhile, in other matches, China’s Chen Zhe ousted Tom Ford by the score line of 4-3 to book his place in the quarters. He fired two classy snooker knocks of 102 and 55 points to confirm his place in the last eight round. Zhe recently claimed the pro tour
ticket for the next two years through the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School).
