Stuart Bingham leads Ding Junhui 9-7 – 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship
Stuart Bingham has ended his second session with a 9-7 lead over Ding Junhui, in the second round of the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship, which is being held at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
Bingham, who ended the opening session with a 5-3 lead in his favour, has a great opportunity to enter into the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship for the first time in his professional career, as he still holds his two frames lead. The Chinese top cueist, Junhui, is now fighting for his survival in the match.
The overall score-line between both the players was 25-61; 65-67; 73 (73)-12; 86-37; 71-38; 94 (53)-0; 76-55; 57-66; 49-62; 85(72)-0;24-70 (57); 57-9; 61-53; 127 (80)-0 and 65-14.
The Binginator, Bingham, stormed into a 3-0 lead in the first session before the Chinese bounced back into the game with classy breaks of 67 and 74, to come within one frame. The thirty-four-year-old, Bingham, then restored his lead at 5-3, by winning the last two frames.
In the second session, the Englishman was again dominant, as he stretched his lead to 8-4, to put huge disappointment on the faces of the Chinese fans.
However, Junhui clawed back with all of his energy and won two frames, to reduce the deficit by 8-6. He enjoyed two dashing breaks of 93 and 75, to keep his hopes of winning the title alive.
The fifteenth frame again fell for Bingham, who is known best for beating the seven-time world champion, Stephen Hendry, in the first round in 2000. World number four, Junhui, again mopped up a dashing break of 91 in the last frame, to end his campaign trailing at 9-7.
The Englishman has put up a spirited performance, as the Chinese is the favourite for the match. Both players will start off today, with their third and final session. This match’s winner will next face the victor of the contest between Mark Selby and Stephen Hendry.
