Stuart Bingham looking to avenge his defeat against Judd Trump at Newport Centre: 2012 Welsh Open
Winner of 2011 Australian Goldfields Open snooker event, England’s Stuart Bingham has crashed out of the 2012 Welsh Open snooker event at the hands of the 2011 UK Championship winner, England’s Judd Trump.
Bristol’s Trump defeated him by an easy score line of 4-1 in their second-round clash at the Newport Centre arena in Newport. Due to losing for the second consecutive time against Trump, Bingham is now looking to avenge his defeat against the 2011 World
Snooker Championship finalist.
The 35-year-old Bingham started his campaign in a marvellous fashion beating compatriot Mark King by the score line of 4-2 in the first round. He was very hopeful to make his way into the final stages of the event and eventually claim the title. The Binginator
set up Trump clash in the second round and was determined to beat the Bristolian but failed to prove his class there and slipped 4-1 down in the end.
Trump, on the other hand, was outstanding at the baize from the very beginning of the tournament and reached the second round after whitewashing Fergal O’Brien 4-0 in Round 1. He played impressively against the Ball-run and was able to oust him easily by
4-1 which offended the Aussie event champion and now he believes he owes Trump one and will avenge his loss.
While speaking to the local media after losing his game against Trump, Bingham said, “I’ll be looking for a bit of revenge after Judd beat me at the Masters, so it will be an interesting game. With Mark it was a bit of a battle, but that is often how it
is with first-round matches and Mark’s a good player so it was great to get past him. But against Judd I’d expect it to be a bit more free-flowing and attacking.”
The Basildon potter added, “I came into the tournament knowing my top 16 place was under threat, but I was always just going to play my game with the attitude that if I win I win, and if I lose I lose.”
The Bingo-star had played Trump four times in his career and could beat him only once in the first round of 2011 Shanghai Masters but lost in the rest which makes him feel offended and disappointed. This is why he is looking to make it up to his standards
and equalise the odds.
