Stuart Bingham saves £20,000 of his bet on final encounter of 2012 World Snooker Championship
World Snooker Championship 2012 had a tremendous finish at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield where the former UK Champion, England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan defeated compatriot Ali Carter by the score line of 18-11.
With O’Sullivan’s victory, many bettors have pocketed a lot of money which also include the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open winner, England’s Stuart Bingham who earned £20,000 on the Rocket’s triumph over Carter.
The final clash of the 2012 World Snooker Championship was a tussling fight in the first session but after that O’Sullivan dominated the game and was able to win the match by 18-11. Bingham bet his money in favour of O’Sullivan and was victorious as the
Essex Exocet performed according to his expectations. However, he was a bit worried when the Captain, Carter, bounced back into the game in the third frame.
While speaking to the media, Bingham said, “I watched it at home and I was quite confident Ronnie would win, but Ali had the bit between his teeth so you just never know. And a win for Ali would have made a big difference to me.”
The Aussie event winner added, “For a start I’ve already booked my flights to the first three or four ranking events next year because I qualify for them automatically as a top 16 player. But if Ali had won I would have to have qualified. And it would also
have cost me about £20,000 in things like prize money. Luckily for me Ronnie always looked in control and I was very grateful for that!”
The spectators present at the Crucible Theatre arena saw some outstanding snooker display from the Englishmen as they tussled during the final encounter. The Wordsley potter displayed his true genius at the baize and dominated over the Captain from the beginning
of second session.
O’Sullivan faced a little bit of resistance from Carter in the third session but that was not enough to stop him from clinching his fourth World Snooker Championship title. O’Sullivan hinted his retirement during the Championship but it seems he will not
be thinking about that for a while until he receives a brutal defeat in any major ranking snooker event.
