Stuart Bingham takes on Mark Davis in semi-final clash of 2012 Wuxi Classic – Snooker Update
Snooker fans who came to watch their favourite cuemen putting on their best, witnessed a tremendous snooker competition between Mark Selby and Stuart Bingham in the quarter-final encounter of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament at the Wuxi Sports Center
arena in Wuxi, China. The winner of the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament will next meet his compatriot Mark Davis in the semi-final game.
The Selby-Bingham quarter-final clash was one of the most tussling encounters of the tournament as both potters were in good shape from the start of the event and displayed some scintillating performances throughout the event. The match up went the way it
was expected from both potters. Bingham had the advantage in the start and claimed early lead of 3-1 at the end of the first session to put the Leicester potter under immense pressure.
However, Selby did not let it go easily and sprang back brilliantly in the second session to grab three frame wins firing tremendous snooker breaks of 64 and 92 to push himself three frames up at 4-4 level. The pair dragged the game into a decisive frame
where Bingham showed his class once again and claimed the match. With this superb win over Selby, the Aussie event winner has booked his place in the penultimate stage against compatriot Mark Davis.
While speaking to World Snooker after his match, Bingham said, “I just thought 'just keep playing my game', I know I'm confident and I know I fancy any shot that I was going for. I potted a good long one in the last and split the pack up and they opened
up lovely and I just kept myself together in the end.”
The Englishman added, “It's great to see Mark Davis get to the semis, we're really friends. It'll be a really good game, you don't get to a semi-final without playing well. It's going to be tough because we know each other.”
Bingham has played against Davis before and is well aware of his capabilities. Davis has been good in the recent event showing that he still has the spark to unsettle his opponent no matter how experienced or talented they are.
