Stuart Bingham unhappy with defeat against Ricky Walden in 2012 Wuxi Classic
Winner of the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria, England’s Stuart Bingham performed tremendously in the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event and made his way impressively into the final encounter of the
tournament. He played against the winner of 2008 Shanghai Masters event, compatriot Ricky Walden.
Bingham played brilliantly in the initial stages of the Wuxi Classic at the Wuxi Sports Center arena in Wuxi, China but he failed to maintain his good form in the final encounter against Walden and tumbled down by an easy score line of 10-4. Bingham was
quite hopeful to claim the title because as compared to Walden, he was in good shape from the start and believed that Ricky will prove to be an easy opponent.
However, he compiled another maximum 147 in the sixth frame but it did not help him nudge his opponent down who swept the table in no time during the final proceedings of the ultimate battle for the title. Bingham is definitely feeling disappointed because
he had the perfect opportunity to launch his new snooker season run with a blast.
While speaking to World Snooker after his match, Bingham said, “Obviously I'm a bit disappointed, I've had 15 or so unbeaten and today it just didn't happen. I think it was just a bad day at the office. Some consolation was the 147. It's always nice to make
a 147, especially in a final. I've been told it's only the third one in a final so it's some history.”
The Aussie event winner added, “If someone had said before I went to China that I'd win the ATPC event and come here and get to the final I'd have bit their hand off so I can't grumble.”
Nevertheless, Bingham has a chance to make an appearance in the beginning of the new snooker season because he still can come up to expectations in the 2012 Australian Goldfield Open where he will be defending the title. Although Bingham is disappointed
from his performance in the final by losing to Walden, he is a tremendous player with an immense amount of talent. It will be interesting to see how he progresses throughout the new snooker season.
