After a dismal show with the ball in the recent series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465, was not a favourite for the 12-man squad to feature in the Lord’s Test. However, the team management showed a lot of faith in Broad, by not only
selecting him in the squad but also including him in the final playing XI.
The 25-year-old pacer justified his place in the side as he came up to the expectations of their coach and captain. Along with a blistering half-century in the second innings, Broad claimed seven wickets in the match and played a decisive role in his team’s
convincing 196-run win in the historic Lord’s Test.
Broad admitted that he was under immense pressure before the start of play but he did not let it affect his bowling.
"I was saying to myself, `Keep calm, keep calm` and just repeating it to make me relax. You work very hard to take wickets and to get out one of the best players to have ever held a bat at an important moment in the game is what all that work is for, so
for him to be reprieved was a real worry," Broad said.
While Chris Tremlett is doubtful for the second Test, Broad is likely to show his magic with the new ball at his home ground in Nottingham.
Citing the ongoing series as a big one for the home side, the fast bowler described that he will look to continue the good work in the upcoming game since the Poms will have to be on their toes throughout.
When asked about the reason behind his recent poor form, the English speed-star shared, "Maybe I was trying to play a bit of catch-up on the cricket I missed in the winter. When you`ve not played much during the winter period, you come back searching for
wickets and maybe I didn`t have the patience I needed.”
Starting on Friday, July 29, 2011, the second Test is very important for the home side as a victory will put them in a strong position to seal the series empathically.
