http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s new T20 captain, Stuart Broad, has stated that he is eager to make an impact at the helm of England’s team in the instant format of the game, the all-rounder was part of the team that won the T20 World Championship in the
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 last year, the only International Cricket Council World event that the masters of the game have succeeded in winning in their history.
He was named captain of the team last week as the English Cricket Board announced changes at the top of the three formats of the game, Broad would be captaining the shortest format while Ashes' hero Alastair Cook has got the nod for
One Day International format, Andrew Strauss who retired from 50 overs cricket would be leading the team in Test matches.
Broad spoke to media in England and talked about his plans for the T20 format, he conceded that he does not have much experience at the international level yet there is a belief in him that he can make a difference and improve his
team’s credentials further in the format.
The often temperamental character stated that he bids to keep himself in check, especially under pressure situations where he would need to keep his calm and composure since he would be the leader of the pack.
“I don't have much experience, but it's not something that fazes me, it very much excites me," he said. "Every time I take the field I try to think like a captain, certainly looking at fields and making successions that can help.”I've
been very fortunate to play under two fantastic captains; Straussy recently but Michael Vaughan when I first came into the set-up, I learnt a huge amount under him”.
The pace bowler and handy lower order batsman feels that Vaughan was a great guide for him in the initial stages of his career, the former England batsman always rated Broad highly and the two have immense mutual respect from the
start of his career.
Vaughan, who was the man in charge when Broad played his first test for England, felt that Broad was a highly talented individual in spite of his talents knew well what was expected of him very early on in his international career.
The fast bowler was made to toil hard in the match played at Galle against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 yet did not shy away from competition.
Now at the age of 25 he has a promising career ahead of him and buoyed by captaincy he is set to push further his abilities with both bat and ball.
"It's important I keep the same passion for the game every time I pull an England shirt on," Broad insisted. "Obviously every time you take the field as an international cricketer you want to set an example, and play in the right
way. “
It remains to be seen what kind of an impact he makes as the leader of the team, his talent has never been doubted but his temperament has often been doubted. He remains a feisty cricketer who has the tendency of stepping over the
line if things don’t go his way. With captaincy he has to tone down and take things in their stride otherwise he might find the task beyond him.
English cricket fans hope that he would be able to hone his skills further with the passage of time and prepare himself as a future test captain in due course. If he delivers he is set to take England to big success in the years to
come.
