Stuart Broad calm about captaincy challenge – Cricket News Update
England’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 was not concerned about losing his authority as captain of the Twenty20 squad despite missing the two-match series against West Indies at the Kennington Oval, London in the past week.
The young all-rounder will be unable to lead the Twenty20 team in the lone game in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011.
Since then, Broad has only led the team in a couple of matches, but has been out of action due to his injury.
However, the youngster did stay with the team during the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 and stated, “Just being around the squad has helped. I’ve been observing the new guys and trying to get to know them better and talk about certain tactics. But I haven’t
encroached on Swanny’s space.”
He further added, “It was important he set out what he wanted to do, but it is along the same sort of lines that our Twenty20 team is building towards September next year.”
Broad might return to the side in a series against Pakistan in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE). Both teams will go head to head in a complete series at the start of 2012.
However, the Poms will not get many chances of playing in the shortest version of the game and will have to work extremely hard in order to defend their Twenty20 World Cup title in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 next year.
The team won the Mega Event in 2010 under the captaincy of all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PD-Collingwood-c2173. However, the veteran player was ignored for selection after a poor show in the ICC World Cup 2011.
He has been unable to impress the selectors since then and admitted that his selection in the future was unlikely.
Although Collingwood might not be a part of the team in the 2012 World Cup, Broad will look forward to defend the title on the Asian soil. His first aim will be to overcome the number Twenty20 team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, who have been playing decent cricket under the
leadership of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972.
