England’s T20 captain Stuart Broad is hopeful of ending the ongoing tour of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 on a winning note against Pakistan, despite suffering an eight-run defeat in the three-match T20 series opener at Dubai on Thursday.
In Thursday’s T20, England remained in a commanding position for the majority of the match before a double strike from Umar Gul ended England’s hope of winning the match. Broad still took positives from Thursday’s series opener as he said, “...we could have
won that game almost down to the last over - and it's important we keep positive about it."
Umar Gul, the most experienced death bowler from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, returned with stunning figures of 3 for 20 to put the side in the driver’s seat towards the end of the game.
Broad, who is himself a right-arm medium pacer was all praise for the Pakistani bowler.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604 is one of the best Twenty20 bowlers in the world, and he showed his class," said Broad speaking to media reporters ahead of the second T20 of the three-match series to be played at the Dubai Cricket Stadium today, February 25, 2012.
"We probably didn't play him as well as we could have done. But it's such a fine line in Twenty20 cricket," he added further.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, the world number one Test side, kick started its tour of the Emirates in a disastrous way, succumbing to a 3-0 Test series whitewash at the hands of Misbah-ul-Haq’s Men in Green, something unprecedented in the history of England-Pakistan cricketing
rivalry.
However, the Poms under Alastair Cook’s captaincy, lashed back at Pakistan in the ODI series, inflicting a 4-0 one-day series whitewash.
Speaking after the defeat in the first T20I, Broad was retrospective on the margins of victory in the shortest format of the game.
"You never think Twenty20 cricket is in the bag...It can change in one over,” said Broad. "You have to give credit to the way they finished their bowling,” he added.
The third and last T20 of the series will be played at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imtiaz-Sheikh-c64290 Zayed Stadium Abu Dhabi on February 27.
