Stuart Broad in danger of being ruled out of remainder of ICC World Cup 2011
England fast bowler Stuart Broad sustained a side strain against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in the thrilling encounter on Sunday and is in serious danger of being ruled out of the remainder of the ICC World Cup 2011 due to the concern.
Broad has been struggling with fitness since the Adelaide Test of the 2010-11 Ashes series. However, he made it in time for the World Cup but has not been 100 per cent as he missed the important tie against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 as well.
The 24-year-old fast bowler is the spearhead of the English bowling especially in the limited-over format of the game as he proved against the Proteas on Sunday by claiming a match winning four-wicket haul.
Broad said that he started feeling the pain during the match against South Africa which increased after the match ended. It was a close encounter and a very important match for England and probably that was the reason why Broad kept on giving his best and
eventually won the game for his country.
Broad said, “I felt a bit tight in the field and it sort of increased after the match, I am not sure how serious it is. I have had scans done and am waiting for the result.”
The lanky fast bowler said that he is still not sure about the seriousness of his injury but he should get the idea in a few days. England’s next assignment is against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 on Friday and Broad is unlikely to feature in the match.
“At this stage, I am doubtful about playing on Friday, but not sure beyond that. I should know in a couple of days. I know it is a common injury with bowlers, but I've never had it before,” Broad added.
England have already lost their premier batsman in the shape of Kevin Pietersen who has been ruled out of the tournament, so Broad’s absence could be a huge dent to their hopes for World Cup glory.
