Stuart Broad intends to change history by winning the ICC World Cup 2011
England fast bowler Stuart Broad has expressed his team’s intentions of changing their history in World Cup cricket by winning the ICC World Cup 2011.
In nine previous events, England have reached the finals of the mega event three times but failed to lift the most illustrious trophy of the game even once. They looked shaky in their first group match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753 but succeeded in chasing down a
huge score to avoid any scares of an upset.
Broad was all-praise for Team Director Andy Flower, who has changed the fortunes of English cricket. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 did pretty well in international cricket in 2010 as they won a major international tournament for the first time in the shape of the ICC World Twenty20
championship held in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760. Apart from that, England retained the 2010-11 Ashes by beating the Aussies comprehensively in their own backyard.
“We won our first ICC tournament in the Twenty20 World Cup and we won in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 for the first time in 24 years - so we are achieving things other England teams haven't,” Broad said in an interview.
Broad who sustained an injury during the second Test of the recently concluded Ashes series, made a comeback in the English side in the World Cup and made an immediate impression by taking two five-wicket hauls in the warm-up matches. He has been the spearhead
of English bowling in the limited-over format of the game for the past two years.
England will take on the hosts and hot favourite of the event http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on Sunday at Bengaluru in a crunch Group B match.
Visiting teams usually have to cope with not only the Indian team but the crowd as well as it backs their team very passionately and can put the opposition teams under huge pressure.
However, Broad feels that his team knows how to handle the pressure and crowd cannot change the complexion of the game. He said, “The crowd will be Indian-dominant but the crowd does not change the way you bowl the ball and hit it, which is what we have
to focus on.”
