Stuart Broad raring to get his hands on the ICC T20 Cup – Cricket News Update
England’s T20 captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, as he believes that the current side carries enough talent to give their opponents a run for their money in the mega event.
“It's a great challenge for us all - we're hugely-excited to be here. There are not many guys who have played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World tournaments - they're amazing occasions," said the lanky fast bowler.
“We've got some talented players here, we've played some really good Twenty20 cricket over the past year, we've got match-winners in the side,” he added.
According to him, England’s spirits have been lifted after their T20 victory against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 over the weekend in the three-match finale. This victory by the Poms levelled the T20I series, preventing the tourists from going into the ICC World T20 with a series win behind them.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 are being dubbed as the underdogs in this year’s event, where there are not many who believe that the English can repeat their 2010 performance.
Nonetheless, Broad is aiming to write his name in history by becoming only the second English captain after Paul Collinwood to lead his side to victory in the grand tournament.
The 2010 winners are without their highest scoring batsman in T20, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806, who is still in talks with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in finding a way to resume his international cricket after he was axed from the national team last month.
Pietersen made things complicated by retiring from one-day cricket in May this year, which according to ECB rules meant he could no longer feature in T20s for England.
The all-rounder wants the ECB to provide him space between national commitments in order to participative in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the request has been denied and so far the ECB is not in the mood to budge on the matter.
Broad on the other hand, insists that the team is not thinking about the KP saga and are focussed on the task ahead.
“It's not something we need to focus on as players. It doesn't affect what we do on the field; whether you hit the ball for six, or nail your yorker or slower ball. That's what we're here to do. We need to stay very much within our 'bubble' as a team. We have a very big one-game mentality,” reckoned the fast bowler.
