Stuart Broad, the England T20 captain, is disappointed to have lost the second T20 International of the three-match series against New Zealand at Hamilton and admitted that he made a wrong call by opting to bowl first.
The Black Caps, who were asked to bat first, performed exceptionally well and posted a huge score of 192 runs on the board for the loss of merely 6 wickets. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129, the Kiwi skipper, played out of his skin for his 74 which came off just 38 balls.
He was ably supported by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamish-Duncan-Rutherford-c61359.
In reply, the visitors only managed to score 137 runs before being bowled out in the final over of the match, handing over a handsome win to the home team by 55 runs.
While speaking to reporters after the match, the fast bowler expressed that he should not have decided to field first and admitted that he allowed the Kiwis to run away with the show. Broad is not happy with the English team’s performance but hopes that
the boys will turn the tables in the final T20, which is going to be played on Friday at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864.
The England captain mentioned, “We probably should have batted first - I got that wrong. It was a disappointing performance throughout but Twenty20 can be like that. Things can go well one day and not so well the next.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 and the series is now level at 1-1.
Apart from praising the performance of the home team, Broad also lauded the efforts of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jos-Buttler-c1733, who smashed a brilliant half-century in the losing cause. He feels that the result could have been different, had the other batsmen supported Buttler.
“Credit to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, they played very well. At the halfway point we were still in with a chance but obviously losing early wickets you're chasing the game from there,” he added. “He has hit a lovely run of form, standing still and striking the ball really
cleanly. It's a shame we couldn't get a few more runs on the board (before Buttler came in).”
