http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 says winning the toss at Headingley will be the key - Cricket News Update
English pace man, Stuart Broad, feels the toss for the second Test, due to start on Thursday, could play a decisive role in deciding the outcome of the series against South Africa.
“The captain who wins the toss faces a huge call because you can never be quite sure what the best thing to do here is,” Broad wrote in his column. The home side is trailing 0-1 in the three-match Investec Test series after losing the opening Test at the
Oval.
The English side has not lost a series since their 2008 defeat at the hands of the Proteas, managing to remain invincible on home soil by winning seven consecutive series.
However, that could change as the visitors are considered to be the favourites to win the ongoing battles, after their commanding performance in the opening Test.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 posted a world-record 637 for the loss of only two wickets, and made their hosts toil hard for two days before declaring, and bowling out the locals easily to record an impressive innings' win.
With a victory at Headingley, the Proteas will not only clinch the series (their ninth successive away from home) but will also become the new number one Test side since 2009.
Cricket experts believe that barring the overcast conditions at Leeds, the pitch will play in batsman’s favour and the team who bats first would set the tone for the match.
“I remember against South Africa here four years ago we were bowled out cheaply, but then the sun shone and South Africa scored 500 because it can be another batter’s paradise if it doesn't swing,” said Broad.
The 26-year-old feels that Headingley can provide them the opportunity to force their way back into the series, which can only be done if they exploit the conditions well.
“Headingley is a good place to come in many ways after a setback like that because things can happen very quickly. What we would really like this year is a pitch with a bit more pace and bounce because we haven't had one this season,” said the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826
