Stuart Hooper backs Tom Biggs to succeed
Bath lock Stuart Hooper is backing lively winger Tom Biggs to have a massive impact over the rest of the season.
Biggs has started the season very well and his counter attacking rugby is often met with appreciation by Bath's fans. Hooper says the 26-year-old has the ability to be a top try-scorer at the club this
season.
It's important that all Bath players perform consistently all year long. There is a lot of pressure on the club because of the large financial investment that has been made by owner Bruce Craig.
Biggs has all of the quality and skill needed to play well over the course of the season. Hooper and the rest of the squad has to protect the player from pressure and do more to make his game easier.
Quality and skill
Biggs is a vital player in the way Bath plays out wide. He is quicker than anyone else in the Bath team. This allows him to dart for gaps and attack from inside his own half when Bath wins the ball back.
He's a very intelligent player who will make different runs when it's necessary. This opens up space for other players flooding forwards. It also stretches the defence and pulls opposition players out
of position.
Biggs is one of the few players in the Bath side that can instantly transform the atmosphere of a game. He's a crowd favourite and his passionate attacking rugby can ignite a crowd in a dull match.
"I hadn't played with Biggsy for a few years prior to this season but I know that was more his standard of performance. You'll see exceptional performances on top of that as well and I've no doubt he will
endear himself to the crowd here at The Rec more and more. He's all action and all heart. He doesn't give up on the chase," said Hooper.
Better protection
Better protection has to be offered from the rest of the Bath squad if Biggs is going to stay productive. This means other players in the side will have to take a lot of physical challenges so Biggs can
focus on running for tries.
Players can also play a bigger role away from the rugby field. This means taking all of the press and public attention so Biggs stays out of the spotlight. This will let the winger focus on his game and
nothing else.
A lot of Bath's wing play will be based around Biggs. It's important that the creative players stay on the fringes of the wings. This is because it will allow Biggs to start attacking within one pass instead
of having to move the ball through a number of players from the centre.
"He's a great player and I look forward to him playing more games at The Rec. Tom is definitely having his best time in a Bath shirt," added Hooper.
Betting advice
Bath has a very good chance of making the top four in the Premiership this season. The club's chances will only be helped if Biggs is in good form, so there is no reason to change any betting patterns.
Biggs is a great player to back in any game. He has the ability to run away with a match by scoring three or four tries. This makes him a very good bet to be top scorer in any game.
There is a very good chance that Biggs will be the top try scorer at the club by the end of the season. Have a punt on him to get over the line more than anyone else.
