Stuart Lancaster praises Chris Robshaw – Rugby News Update
Chris Robshaw, the 26-year-old Harlequins back-row and current captain of England will play no further part in the series against South Africa, and in his place Dylan Hartley will lead the side.
England is currently on tour in South Africa, where they have played the Springboks in a test match twice, having lost both the games. They have one game left in the series, and England will be without their mercurial captain for the final game.
Stuart Lancaster, the head coach of England has been nothing but praise for the back-row, who was appointed Captain after he took over the team, following the 2011 Rugby World Cup debacle.
Robshaw has broken his thumb, but he still has the desire to lead his team out for the final test against the Springboks this weekend. However, Lancaster cleared the situation by stating that the advice of the specialist has been taken, and the back-row
will play no further part in the series.
"We don't want to compromise his well-being by putting him in with a fracture which could displace and then keep him out for three months as opposed to four weeks," said Lancaster.
Lancaster was full of praise for his captain when he said, "Where Chris has exceeded everyone's expectations is in his ability to manage the responsibility of being England captain, captaining his club side to the Premiership final and still playing tremendously
well at the same time."
Speaking of the reasons of appointing Dylan as captain, Lancaster said, "In the changing room before the game you hear lots of voices. You have the captain's voice but I can guarantee you Dylan's voice is close behind, encouraging, shouting, motivating.”
Robshaw made his debut against Argentina at Salta, on June 13, 2009, and prior to the 2012 Six Nations tournament, he had only earned 2 caps for his country. So far he has played 8 games for his country, starting all 8 of them. His potential made Lancaster
chose him as his captain.
The head coach of England has an arduous task of rallying his troops without his captain, and will be keen to avoid a series defeat.
