http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Ashraful-c76740’s availability – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, starting from Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Dhaka.
The veteran batsman was in the squad for the first match, but failed to make an impression. However, he was still a part of the team, which will feature in the final encounter of the series.
Ashraful was present in the practice sessions and has been training extremely hard to regain his form before the Dhaka Test.
However, Law was a little confused after seeing the selection panel’s list of players for the second match, as it did not contain the name of the veteran batsman.
According to the Bengali coach, “As far as I know, he [Ashraful] is in the squad. That's why he's here in practice. We haven't been told anything different. Maybe it is speculation and that sort of thing goes on in this part of the world.”
He went onto say, “All I have done is prepared like a Test match. I have told everyone to be prepared for all outcomes come match day. That's the same in any team. We have turned up here today as a squad from the first Test. We have all practiced like we
are playing a Test match. So that's not an issue.”
Bangladesh suffered a humiliating defeat by an innings and 184 runs in the previous match. The team failed to put up a fight against a confident playing eleven of Pakistan and the match was ended early on day four.
The hosts failed to make an impression with both bat and ball, leaving their fans dejected in the end.
Ashraful, who has played 57 Tests for Bangladesh, scored only one run in two outings and was criticised for not being able to score runs against top teams.
This probably forced the Bengali selectors to drop him from the final game, but the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not yet confirmed the axing.
On the other hand, fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rubel-Hossain-c2378 is certain to miss the second Test, as he suffered an injury while fielding in the Chittagong match.
