Stuart Law critical of Bangladeshi fielding – Cricket News Update
Bangladeshi coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Grant-Law-c91460 has highlighted the fielding as area of concern for his team after they dropped important catches to hand their opponents’ control of the second Test match at Mirpur.
The hosts were appalling in the field after failing to grab sitters, consequently halting their charge to draw the match. The culprit included http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudullah-c1877 and Elias Sunny who all dropped easy chances on a pivotal fourth day.
Despite putting on 338 in the first innings, the hosts failed to take the initiative and were lacklustre in the fielding which led them to surrender a 132-run lead to the opposition. Law was critical of his team and said that their were no excuses for such
lack of concentration.
"We are under pressure from Pakistan's performance; when you're dropping good players, you're giving them two chances at bat," he said. "That is an area of concern for us. I think our bowlers did well and created enough opportunities. It's not a practice
thing. We practice till hands are sore."
This all culminated in another batting collapse which saw the hosts falter at 95 for 5 in their second outing. Their openers provided them a solid start but again luck ran out with Pakistani pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604 taking two wickets in two balls. However, both
decision looked pretty dubious but standing umpire, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Billy-Raymond-Doctrove-c48096 was convinced in his mind as he raised his fingers to the disbelief of the Bangladeshi batsmen.
Law was also not too pleased with the verdicts handed to his players and also highlighted the timing of the dismissals as the turning factor for his team.
"They [the umpires] have the most difficult out there," Law said. "It's not the decisions, but the timings of them. Just before tea to lose two wickets in two balls to decisions that we felt were quite questionable. It's a massive kick in the guts.”
After that, irresponsible play from the middle-order again ensured a similar pattern of the proceedings where the tourists capitalized to dismiss three more before the end of the fourth day. It remains a daunting task for the local team to save the match
but their coach is staying optimistic over his team’s chances.
