Coach of the Sri Lankan cricket team, Stuart Law, has decided to step down from his position after the limited overs series against England next month.
Law was given the responsibility after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011.
However, the former Australian cricketer was just a temporary coach as the Sri Lankan cricket officials wanted to keep their options open.
Reportedly, Stuart wanted to stay with the Islanders but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Cricket Board did not give him a permanent opportunity as the head coach of the national team. Due to Sri Lanka Cricket’s lack of interest, Stuart was looking for other, permanent alternatives.
Earlier Law said,"They have said that after the UK tour they will make a decision, but I’m wondering if that is the case. If I am part of their plans, then really I would like to know now because if they don’t want me, then I’ve got some other opportunities
that I could seek.”
Sri Lanka has so far performed well in the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 under the coaching of Law, as the Islanders gave a tough time to the home team in the Test series and won the only T20 match of the tour.
The 42-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 between 1994 and 1999. He does not hold a brilliant record at the highest level of the sport but Law has played some extra-ordinary knocks for his country.
“I don’t know where I stand at the moment, and surely if they are going to make me head coach, or not, they should know very soon. I think I deserve the respect of being told where I stand and, if they have someone else in mind, okay but tell me,” said
an insecure Law.
This might well turn out to be a huge loss for Sri Lankan cricket as Law was doing a good job and he seems to be on good terms with the senior players of the team as well.
