Stuart MacGill keen to play in IPL – Cricket News Update
Former Australian spin star http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Charles-Glyndwr-MacGill-c91433, considering himself fit for the competition, will apply for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, claiming that he can still run enough and bowl with passion.
The star spinner, who quit International cricket in 2008 after playing 44 Test and 3 ODI games, is now back in action for the ongoing domestic Big Bash League T20, representing Sydney Sixers in the revamped high-profile tournament.
Having tested his bowling stamina in the limited-over format, MacGill is sure that he can do well with his excellent spin techniques on the dry pitches in the Subcontinent, if he is picked for the next edition of IPL.
Like his countryman and former teammate, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, Stuart too believes that age factor does not matter at all for a professional cricketer who stays at top of his game at every stage of his life.
Talking to the media, the leggy said, “I never got to play in India, and I figure, having played a couple of games of Twenty20 cricket now, I know I can do it. I don't get too sore, I know I can run around enough. It's worth a go. I'm not going to be doing
it in five years' time, am I? I thought I might as well put my name forward.''
MacGill’s former teammate, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672, who is representing Melbourne stars in BBL and has played all four IPL seasons, opines that that Mac can be a great bowling prospect for any of the league side which picks him.
Warney told, “He'll go well. Some of the 50-yard boundaries that I've experienced the last four years aren't ideal. When they top-edge a sweep and it goes 10 rows back, it ain't ideal. But it is good fun over there. And I think that's what we're trying to
replicate here.''
