Stuart Meaker confident of contributing to team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s first victory in the last ODI – Cricket News Update
With the 5th and final ODI between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and England just a few hours away, the young English pacer, Stuart Meaker, seems to be quite confident of contributing to his team’s victory in a bid to save them from a 0-5 whitewash.
The right-arm fast bowler, who made his International debut on Sunday, October 23, 2011, is satisfied with what he delivered in his maiden ODI and wants to replicate the same in today’s final game, which is scheduled to be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata,
the venue where the high-profile India-England game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 could not be held.
In the backdrop of their elevation to the top of the world Test rankings, the current tour has proved to be a nightmare for the English as they have disgracefully lost all the games played so far in the 5-ODI series.
On the other hand, the Men in Blue, who lost both Test and ODI series to England just two months back, have regained their form and are back on the winning track. As usual, they have thwarted the Poms at their home grounds where they also made a history
by winning the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011.
As the hosts are looking towards an empathetic whitewash by winning today’s game, Meaker hopes that he can assist his team to avert further fall.
Talking to the media today, the youngster said, “If ever there’s a way you’re going to learn, it’s by being chucked in the deep end. Obviously, I’d love to be making my debut on a seaming, rapid West Indian wicket. But this is a true test of what I can do.”
The 22-year-old South Africa-born bowler plays for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 in the English County Cricket. He has played 29 First-Class, 22 List A and 13 T20 games so far, grabbing 90, 20 and 9 wickets respectively in the three formats.
In his first-ever ODI, he took his first International wicket in the very second over. He gave away 45 runs with an economy rate of 5.00.
Having spent time in practice nets, the rising star is geared up to bowl at Eden Gardens today.
