With a friendly against Holland at the end of the month looming, the FA have appointed the U21 coach as the stand in manager until they find a suitable replacement.
The English FA are in a spot of bother as Fabio Capello resigned as manager of the English national team on Wednesday. This has left the country’s football governing body with a mini crisis on their hands as they look for a replacement in time for the Euros,
which take place in the summer.
Yet, while the FA is busy looking for the person to fill the England managerial hot-seat, they have a number of international friendlies coming up. One such mouthwatering clash is against Holland on the 29th of this month.
Addressing the press was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Bernstein, who happens to be the chairman of the FA; he announced that former England player and the current coach of the national U21 side, Stuart Pearce, would take over as interim manager.
“I am very pleased to announce that Stuart Pearce will manage the England team for the Holland match.”
He went on to express his confident in Pearce and how his experience in the national set up put him in pole position to take over the post, “He has huge experience outside and inside this organization and of course he manages the England U21 team and
has been working with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 for some time.
He knows the players well.”
Bernstein assured the public that Pearce was the best man for the job at hand and went on to explain the FA’s priorities, “I have got great confidence in Stuart. We will be in good hands.”
He continued, “The priority then will be to appoint a new England manager. This will be handled with the total focus on getting the best person in place as soon as we sensibly can.”
Capello’s exit is sure to deal a huge blow to England’s hopes of progressing to the later stages of the Euros, as the Italian manager had only just begun to impose his style of play on to the team.
Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp and Dutch maestro, Guus Hiddink are the front runners for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, yet at this point all one can do is speculate.
