Stuart Pearce claims England U-21 team are nervous – Under 21 European Championships (Part 2)
After shedding some light on Pearce’s hollow excuse for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 U-21 team’s failure to impress in the Under 21 European Championships in Denmark by highlighting the experience and the ability that the core of the England U-21
contingent has showcased throughout the previous Premier League season. It is time to take this debate a bit further and take an in-depth view of what has actually gone wrong with the English U-21 team.
Firstly, England failed to take two of their best players with them to the tournament in Denmark. Whether it was because Pearce thought that these players were too good to play with the Under 21 team or whether they were just too
busy with their summer holidays, only time will tell. Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere were both left out of the squad. Pearce was once again giving an http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 winning performance in the media as he stated that Carroll was left out due to injury despite the fact
that he played for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 just before the season ended.
On Wilshere’s case the explanation was much more extensive as he stated that Jack had played a lot of games for Arsenal in the 2010-2011 season and thus was omitted from the final England U-21 squad due to fatigue and risk of injury.
Admittedly, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
However what Pearce failed to realize is that just five more games would not have made any difference in the world to Jack’s ability and his fitness for the up-coming Premier League season. Three group stage matches coupled with
one in the semi finals and then the final that is if England make it to the knockout stages in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884. Regardless one just has to assume at this moment in time that Pearce thought that England will be better off without such experienced players but wait a
moment! Doesn’t logic dictate that experienced players are less likely to be effected by nerves?
In the British media, there was extensive hue and cry by Arsene Wenger over Jack Wilshere’s inclusion in the preliminary squad for the U-21 European Championships. However what the Frenchman failed to realize along with Pearce
is that Jack would only improve by playing for England in Denmark because he would be playing firstly alongside players that he has to play with in the future for the English national team.
Secondly he would be playing against footballers from other nations who are destined to emerge as first choice picks for the Spanish national team, Czech national team, Ukrainian national team etc. Only time and Pearce can tell
us the infinite wisdom behind this decision as in reality it is now evident that England are missing Jack Wilshere’s creativity in central midfield and Andy Carroll’s presence up top. They are also missing a proper coach as Pearce has failed to do his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684
correctly in the build up to the Under 21 European Championships and now as it is evident during the competition in Denmark as well.
