Stuart Williams, the assistant coach of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 ‘A’, is expecting a close series against India ‘A’ and feels that the event is going to provide chances to many cricketers from both sides to strengthen their case for the national teams.
The series will start tomorrow at Bridgetown and includes three unofficial Tests, as many 50-over matches and two T20s.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent a very strong team to the Caribbean in order to assess the quality of its players, who are likely to replace some of the senior cricketers in the coming years.
India ‘A’ is led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashok-Dinda-c1098. All of them have proved their worth at the highest level of the sport over the years and are in contention
to find a place in the Indian Test team.
Williams is happy that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 has sent a strong team as it will test the skills of the emerging Caribbean players as well. The assistant coach believes that the upcoming matches are a massive chance for some of the discarded players to return to the West
Indian team.
The former Test cricketer said, "They have brought a team with some experienced players (at the international level) so this series will be a good test for us. It is always good to compete against good, strong opposition and push yourself to the limit. Our
players recognise that this will be a 'big' series for them as they look to show continued development and progress."
A number of talented players have emerged through the ranks of domestic cricket in the Caribbean since the last one year and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Williams-c98034 is also optimistic about the future of the Islanders in international sport. The former opening batsman claims that the
players of West Indies ‘A’ have been playing together for a long period and they have a very good team-spirit going.
"We have a great bunch of players and it is clear we have a very good team spirit. We have formed a good unit and everyone is familiar with each other,” he expressed.
