Question:

Stubborn tarnish on silver and no silver polish--can you help?

Toothpaste and gentle scouring did an impressive job, I must say. (The piece is sterling, I'm just about positive, but because it's been passed down to me it didn't come with a "care-of" tag. Anyway, there are one or two smudges that toothpaste won't take off. I know you can buy silver polish at any drug- or hardware store but I can't get to the store before tomorrow morning, which is when I need to be able to use it.

This is a silver serving tray, square, which means that I can't really put it inside a larger pot and give it the salt-and foil-and-baking-soda treatment. (Too bad--it works great.)

Can anybody help me out with this? I'd be so grateful!

  1. Just try some baking soda on it in the sink with hot water and dry right away!
